Scavenger Hunt Sunday ~ June 30, 2013

Well, here we are...the last day of June and moving into the hottest months of the year.  I'm already hot and miserable and I'm certainly not looking forward to the next two months. I make myself get outside early every morning, work in the yard a little, or take some pictures. Mr. H says I need to stay accustomed to the heat and it will be better, but, so far, that's not working for me! I do my time and hurry into the air-conditioning!

I did stay outside this week long enough to scavenge around for this week prompts! Which are:
tools
motion
sweet
dots
strips

tools
Garden tools...I'm not using them very much, but I have them if I need them!

motion
I made a little motion with my hostas by twisting the camera as I snapped the shutter button.

sweet
Aren't these sweet little mushrooms? They're very tiny, maybe  1/2" tall.

dots
This guy has lots of orange dots on his head and neck.

stripes
What can I say? It's a striped feather.

That's it for this week!
I hope you enjoy your summer days!
Me, I'm staying inside as much as possible!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday ~ June 23, 2013

I've enjoyed the prompts the last few weeks.
They've been challenging,
but that's exactly what I've been needing!

The prompts for this week were:
fun
arts and crafts
messy
blessing
effort

fun
I have a really hard time sitting still.  My hands need to be busy, so when I go on a trip with Mr. H, I have fun shooting out the car window.

arts and crafts
The art and craft of growing bonsai trees fascinates me.

messy
I love mimosa trees they bring back childhood memories, but they can also be very messy when all those pretty pink blooms fall to the ground. At least that's what my Mom always said as she was raking them up!

blessing
The unexpected rain was a double blessing yesterday. It gave the lawn a much needed watering, but when the sun popped out it sparkled.

effort
It must be quite an effort for these mushrooms to push through the hard, rocky soil.

I hope you make an effort to enjoy your week.
Do some arts and crafts.
Have fun, get a little messy.
One more thing, don't forget to count your blessings.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday ~ June 16, 2013

Another week!
Another hunt!
My, how time flies!

This weeks prompts were:
summer
dance
laughter
helper
water

Some of these were very challenging! I  needed to have my grandchildren around to help me with them, especially dance, laughter, and helper!  Mr. H could have been my helper and danced around until I was filled with laughter, but that's was not happening; model for me he does not do! Therefore, I had to once again stretch my imagination and I did go to my archives for the helper image.

summer
To me summer begins when the hydrangeas bloom.

dance
Have you every watched a peacock dance?
This fine looking fellow was trying to impress a female
by dancing with his feathers fanned out.
He also did  a lot of tail shaking.

laughter
I thought I heard some laughter in the woods!

helper
A big brother is a best friend, a buddy, and a great helper.

water
Water in my favorite form...droplets.

I hope you all have a wonderful Father's Day.

This is my dad. He's in his 80's and suffers from Alzheimer's. We are so blessed that even though he may not remember where he went yesterday or what he ate, he still remembers us. My dad is happy. He doesn't smile as much as he used to, but he is content. Happy Father's Day, Dad!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday ~ June 9, 2013

This week has passed so very fast.
It's hard to believe it's time for Scavenger Hunt Sunday again with Ashley Sisk!

The prompts were challenging for me.
They were:
dishes
favorite color
sunflare
expression
sticky

dishes
I love the leaf print on these pottery dishes.
These beautiful dishes were made by an Arkansas artist.

favorite color
Favorite color? Sky blue!

sunflare
The color of light, isn't it amazing?

 expression
This was a tough one for me. With no one around that wants to have their picture taken for a facial expression, I had to get creative. A piece of art is an expression of the artist and the lion has a very serious expression. I wouldn't want to be the one his eyes are set on. You can't tell from this picture, but there are rows of small beads outlining the different colors in his mane. (disclaimer: not my quilt, but I sure wish it were!)

sticky
Gumballs aren't too bad sticky, unless your walking barefoot in the grass!

That's it for this week.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday ~ June 2, 2013

I was stumped! I searched through my images this week trying to find pictures to post for Scavenger Hunt Sunday and was completely stumped!  Nothing seemed good enough; nothing unusual.  Really, all pretty boring!! Can you tell I'm in a really bad photography slump?  I am! I just can't seem to get motivated and when I do go outside with my camera it's so hot and humid, I'm back inside very quickly.  Needless to say, I didn't have many pictures from this week to chose from, so off to the garden center I went with my camera. I had to find something!

Oh, I forgot to mention that our prompts this week were:
photographer's choice
photographer's choice
photographer's choice
photographer's choice
photographer's choice

Yes, repeat that five times and pick out the best images!!
I even framed them for you.

I wish I had all of these in my garden!!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday ~ May 26, 2013

This week's prompts for Scavenger Hunt Sunday
certainly challenged me to get creative.
Well, except for the last one.
It wasn't too hard to find "anything."

They were:
vacation
food
sound
texture
anything

vacation
If I were to go on a vacation this year
it would be to the beach.

food
snack food

sound
Music, a favorite sounds that fills my home.

texture
lichen and moss on a piece of bark

anything
pretty petunias

The last few days have been beautiful here.
I have been outside constantly
working in the yard,
taking photos,
or just sitting in my swing listening to nature.

Hope you have an enjoyable week!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday ~ Monday style

Hope you and your's had a wonderful weekend.
Our was definitely active!
It's been a while since I've posted to SHS.
I needed a little break from all prompts and regular posts!
Since one of my friends, Susan, submitted the prompts,
I wanted to participate.
Great prompts, Susan!!
A couple are just perfect for a little Gramma bragging!

The prompts this week were:
three
hands
fence
cuddly
sign

three
The three little pigs?
I saw these at a flower market and just had to take their picture.

hands
precious hands
my mother and my new grandson

fence
muscadine vines clinging to a barbed-wire fence

cuddly
Do you see what I mean about perfect promps?
Gramma is bragging about her new cuddly cutie!!

sign(s)
My four year old grandson had a train-themed birthday party Saturday.
Aren't these the cutest cupcakes with railroad signs on them!

It feels good to be posting to SHS again.
The creative juices are once again flowing.
Enjoy your week!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday ~ April 7, 2013

Happy April to everyone!
Spring bulbs, bushes, and flowering trees have bloomed and faded.
The weeds are very prevalent.
Grass is beginning to grow.
Leaves are sprouting on those bare branches we've looked at all winter!
The sun is shining and it's nice and warm.
I hope April is bringing you some pretty weather.

Now on to Scavenger Hunt Sunday with Ashley Sisk at Ramblings and Photos. This is a milestone for me. I found SHS about a year ago and started posting. This is my 50th post!  SHS keeps my camera in my hand, keeps me from getting stale and makes me step out of my comfort zone. Best of all, seeing what other's post has been a constant, wonderful source of inspiration.

This week's prompts were:
outside
chatterbox
comfort
in the kitchen
trees

outside
As I mention the weeds are prevalent. If I had to pick a favorite weed, this would be it, the dandelion. I can't quit taking pictures of them!

chatterbox
I think I should change this prompt to quackerbox! I was stumped on this prompt. I kept trying to take pictures of the black birds that are chattering right now, but no success there. I finally just went to my archives for this little guy. The day I saw him, he never stopped quacking!

comfort
The best source of comfort is my Bible.
I love the words that are in focus
learning...comfort...hope...patience.

in the kitchen
A happy little discovery in the kitchen sink. This is my strainer for the drain that is sitting in a small puddle of water; water that just happened to form a heart. I love to find hearts!

tree
Sometimes you can't see the trees for the weeds!

 Have a good week!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday ~ March 31, 2013

I can't believe it's Easter Sunday!
Where did the month of March go?

Our prompts this week for Scavenger Hunt Sunday were:

water
empty
fresh
weathered
ordinary

water
Rain water caught in the center of a bloom on my Japonica bush.

empty
An empty bench in an empty little park.

fresh
Would you like to go for a bike ride and get some fresh air?

weathered
Although the paint has weathered, you can still see the Coke advertisement on the side of this brick building.

ordinary

An ordinary gumball in a puddle of water.

I leave you with a wish for a wonderful Easter.
