Quilt challenge

Do see the new button on the right side of the blog?  It's Myra's 2011 PhD quilt challenge.  A PhD is a Project Half Done! I have committed to finishing two of my quilt projects in six months. The quilts I want to finish are blocks from the $5 classes at Pinwheel Fabrics.

The first one is my snowman quilt. I have all the blocks finished and just need to add sashing and borders and then quilt.

I also want to finish my Amish looking quilt. I have a few more large blocks and several Flying Geese border blocks to make.

I'm excited, I think I need a push sometimes to finish things. I told myself I wasn't going to start another $5 class until I finished one of the precious quilts. But, I was at the shop this week and guess what, I started another!! I just can't help myself. I love to piece blocks! So now there is an extra incentive to finish these two quilts.

Wow, you should see the other projects on the blog. They are wonderful!!

I'll keep you posted on my progress and I could sure use your encouragement!

  1. I can't wait to see them finished, especially the snowman one! I'll encourage you to finish as long as you push me to get started (and finish) on my Alaska scrapbook!

  2. Well, I am glad you found some incentive to complete the projects! Both quilts are so beautiful already. They will be incredible when you finish them. Now, get to work! : )

  3. Thanks, my faithful followers!! I know you will keep me on my toes. I actually set down with some of my books to find a sashing pattern for the red and white one. I've decided and hope to begin cutting tomorrow. Sashing is what goes between the blocks.

  4. Thank-You for visiting my blog!! And thank-you for the compliments on my quilts! You and I sound the same!! I love to sew little pieces of material together to see what will happen - quilt??? uh, no, just let me sew!! (when I first started, I didn't know that sewing the blocks together wasn't 'quilting'!!! Now I know it's the actual putting the sewn blks into a top, then batting and backing is 'quilting'.... somtimes ignorince is bliss!!! So, now I am making my fun part into tops, and the do get quilted!
Your projects are already great!!! And do not beat yourself up for starting another $5 class!! It will keep you motivated to get the 'old' ones out of the way!! Looking forward to a fun 6 months with you!
