Picture Fall - Part 5

This is it!  The last of Picture Fall.

Day 24 - Family Matters

My husband wouldn't cooperate, so I had to wait until my youngest grandson came over. We made a game of setting the timer on the camera and running to sit down before the light quit blinking.

Day 25 - Fall Colors

look for the rich, quintessential colors of fall.

I found this unusual pink color fall leave near our home.

When I saw this leaf tears came to my eyes.

I posted this in honor of my sister, a breast cancer survivor!!

Day 26 - Open heart, open mind

seek out some kind of openness and shoot it-nothing inside but room for the good that can come when we allow for it.

I found this open rock just waiting to be filled with goodness.

Day 27 - Leafy Love

find a way to capture a leaf that says something totally new

This leaf reminds me of a Spanish dancer

with her black mantilla and vibrant red dress!

It speaks of beauty and love to me.

Do you see the small heart?

The sun peaked through for just a moment after a misty rain. I took so many pictures of leaves this fall.
These covered with rain were my favorite.

Day 28 - The Great Pumpkin

 offer a seasonal ode to the great pumpkin!

He's just a little pie pumpkin, but he has the cutest stem!

Pumpkins need stems that twist or curve!!

We had a lot of fun with this little pumpkin in the class gallery. One girl mentioned that she saw the Loch Ness monster in the stem.  Another, decided we should name him Nessy. If you look really close, the stem looks like the face of the monster looking about searching for his prey!!

Day 29 - Sweet Relief

Day 30 - Fantasyland

Fantasy is not my thing, so once again, I drew a blank at something to post. I finally decided to create a fantasy with Nessy being loved by Wellington the witch!!

Day 31 - Thanksgiving

 focus on something that expresses your gratitude

Giving thanks for this wonderful group of talented photographers who have inspired me, taught me, encouraged me, and brightened each day!!

Do not take autumn for granted; it's days are limited.

And, so it is, that autumn is almost gone.

 The damp, chill of winter is in the air today.

The trees are almost bare.

Winter is coming and with it Picture The Holidays.

I can't wait to share this holiday season with you through my photography!!

Picture Fall - Post 4

I am determined to finish posting my photos for Picture Fall with Big Picture Classes!!!  I need to hurry since Picture The Holidays begins on December 1!!

Day 16 - Juxtaposition

something that consists of two seemingly opposites

opposite colors ~ light and dark

opposite sizes ~ short and tall

I really had a lot of fun taking photos of acorns this fall. I was amazed at the sizes and colors of acorns that fell from the different oak trees.

The new bloom and the withered flower,

each beautiful it it's own way!!

Day 17 - Bounty

A bounty of fall leaves; every color of the rainbow, except blue.

Inspired by a photo my daughter sent me.

I had to walk around the neighborhood to find all the different colors.

Day 18 - Muse

what seems to be our inspiration right now

My muse is form. I'm fascinated by nature's form and I love to shoot up close for all the little details.

Day 19 - Scattered

seek out the beauty in things strewn about

My 2 yr. old grandson stayed with me this day.

The scattered toys remind me of the fun day we had!!

The roads and police car were are some of his Daddy's toys.

Day 20 - Connections

observe the many connections in the world around you

All this lichen is connected to one limb, just as so many of us are connected by one common passion, photography!!

Day 21 - Serving Up Kindness

Look for a way to show a little extra love as you go through your daily rounds

Day 22 - Darks and Lights

I very rarely capture a bird in a photo. They're just too fast for me. But this little guy sat still for several shots. I loved the beautiful sky behind him!

Day 23 - The Rhythm of Repetition

look for soothing repetition in our daily routine

Every day when I go outside, I always look at my mums. This is the first mum that I have ever had come back the next year. I'm rather proud of it!!

Picture Fall - Part 3

This is my third post of photos that I took for Picture Fall,

a photo inspiration class from Big Picture Classes.

Day 11 - Stripping Down

take a photo and then strip all the color away to reveal the textures

I found this gumball, a leaf, and a little moss bathed in light.

Day 12 - Take Some Time Out

take some time to slow down and enjoy the moment

The day I took this it was raining.

It was quiet and restful sitting on the porch listening to the rain.

Day 13 - Good Day Sunshine

find a substitute for the sun

If you look hard enough, you can find sunshine in the most unusual place!

Day 14 - Unexpected Enchantment

find something that delights us

This enchanted me when I was six years old and still does today! In 1959 I was chosen the first grade Halloween queen by my classmates. My prize was this plastic box camera, original price only $3.75.

 

Day 15 - Mid Month Message

find a word or phrase that needed to be heard today

 

I skipped this day. I've taken several of these prompt classes and this was the first day I skipped. I just went blank and never did figure out anything to post. Photographer's block I suppose.

 

These inspiration classes are so much fun. Each day we received an email with an inspirational message illustrated by a photo. The message included a related prompt that we could interpret any way we wanted. We then posted our images  in a class gallery where others could leave comments. I was fortunate to take this class with a wonderful group of ladies. We've taken several classes together and we've become close online photography friends!!  Not only do they leave wonderful comments, but they all take the most wonderful photos that continually inspire me!!

Picture Fall - part 2

I'm glad that fall last longer than the 31 days of our class with Big Picture Classes.  I can continue to post photos from  Picture Fall without totally being out of season. 

Day 6 - Subtleties

Photos don't have to be full of color to be beautiful. You would think that photos of a single coloring would be boring. Not so!  Within that photo are shades of color, shapes, textures and light.

Day 7 - After The Fall

During fall lots of things are falling; leaves, petals, and seeds. We were to look for an image of something that had fallen and find a way to make it more visually appealing and to emphasize the size of the fallen object. I included my grandson inspecting the torn, fallen leaf;  he has a fascination with the fallen leaves!

Day 8 - Keeping It Simple

Photography is all about capturing light on an object. Without light, there would be no photo. We were to find a simple object and use the light around it to illuminate it. I love to take photos of flowers from beneath. I usually find a surprise, like those curls.

Day 9 - What Remains

We were to capture something that wasn't willing to let go. It could have been a leaf that kept hanging on or that flower that has so many stages as it dies. This feather stuck between two rocks caught my eye. It was almost as though it wasn't yet willing to fall to the ground.

Day 10 - Preparations

We spend a lot of time in the kitchen during the fall season. There's those special family meals and dishes that just say "fall" like pumpkin rolls or spice cakes. We were to look around the kitchen and find something that brings us joy. Very hard for me, I don't photograph inanimate objects very well.  But, I tried!! I do enjoy my mixer each time it helps me prepare food.  It especially brings me joy when I make pie meringue!!  It definitely can whip up a tall meringue!!

This class has helped me look for the little things in fall that bring joy.  I hope you will also look and enjoy your fall!!

Picture Fall

Fall has finally arrived!! You can feel it when you go outside. The air is cooler and less humid!! The trees have just begun to turn and the last of the flowers are blooming. The new season brings a new photo class Picture Fall at Big Picture Classes. I've been looking forward to this class. I love nature photography and nature is beginning to put on quite a show. I was going to keep up with posting my photos for the class on my blog, but I'm already 13 days behind!! I'm going to try and catch you up!

 

Day 1 - The Quintessential Fall - the most obvious sign of fall is the fallen leaf

This photo looks like I'm very fast with the camera, but I'm really not! The leaf is actually caught on a spider web and was just hanging there. Made for an easy shot!

 

Day 2 - Get Comfy - capture an image that shows where we find comfort

This is my chair in my corner. This chair is where I rock my grandsons, where I visit with you, read your blogs and watch a little TV. It's a pretty good reading chair, also!!  The cabinet behind is filled with snow globes that my husband has bought me.  It's my favorite place to be when I'm inside!
I am no good at photographing objects!!  They just look lifeless to me. I could have at least added a pillow or a throw or something!!

 

Day 3 - The Beauty Challenge - we were to seek out beauty in things that are not obvious and are  overlooked

These are wildflowers from the evening primrose family. I know I've posted pictures of the seed boxes before, but I found some with the petals still attached though they are dying.

In the center of the flower are tiny seed boxes, also know as rattle boxes. A hole opens in the top allowing seeds to be spilled out in the wind. They're about 1/16th inch square.

 

Day 4 - Morning Light - we were to find the morning light in our everyday routine

Every morning it's breakfast, a quick check of the computer for the latest emails, then I put on my shoes and head out in the morning light for my walk.

Day 5 - Little Reminders - There are lots of visual reminders that we keep around our home. Taking a photo of them can make them seem more real.

This book that I'm reading is on my nightstand. I love the title "Every Day Deserves A Chance!"  It inspired the blog post about my Clematis.  This is a small reminder that I choose how I spend each day. It reminds me that "This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 188:24 NIV

Each day, you recieve an email with an inspirational prompt and a photo by Tracey, the class leader. There is a gallery for posting your photos and for receiving comments from other photographers. The comments have always been encouraging and wonderful. I'm taking this with a group who have taken other Big Picture Classes together. I've taken Picture Winter, Picture Spring, Picture Summer, Picture Color, and Picture Fall. I only have Picture The Holidays left in the series and then I may do them all over again. Once you take a class it is open to you forever at no additional cost. I also participate in Picture Inspiration a year long photo prompt group  at Big Picture Classes.
