Photo-Heart Connection ~ December 2012

Squirrel nests fascinate me. The squirrel runs out on a limb, throws some sticks and leaves together, and moves right in! Their nests seem so badly constructed that a good wind would blow them down. This one is still up there after a recent wind, ice, and snow storm. I guess they're sturdier than they look!

Right now I feel very much like I'm out on a limb; precariously close to falling off. There are times when we must face facts and stand up for others who cannot speak for themselves. There are times when we hurt someone in order to help another. I'm in that position right now. I'm waiting for the storm to hit. It may be rough, but I do have support behind me. I know that on the other side there will be bright blue skies!

  1. I don't think I've ever really noticed a squirrel's nest before - I love your description of their haphazard construction methods. I hope you will weather your personal storm and make it throught to those blue skies.

  2. What an interesting capture -- those icy branches look beautiful in the sun! Sorry you're also out on a limb -- sending good thoughts your way. Deep breathing helps.

  3. Love this image of the branch and the snow and that nest . . . looks like we are both out on a limb this month, but for different reasons. Maybe that squirrel will let you rest in that nest for a little while. I am glad you have the support behind you that you need, and here is hoping the storm doesn't last long! xo

  4. I recently learned that squirrels build nests and I always thought they hibernated in little snug holes in trees! It looks pretty cold up there against the cold blue sky and icy atmosphere. I like the way the sun catches the tiny snow-covered branches. Your difficult time with pass, but in the meantime I send you all my thoughts for a happy conclusion. You are fortunate indeed to have support behind you.

  5. Lovely image - I didn't know squirrels nested like this! Sorry to hear your personal situation. Things like this are always so difficult. Sending you prayers that blue skies make it sooner rather than later.

  6. We have huge oak trees all around us where I live, and squirrel nests are everywhere, so I knew what this was right away when I saw your image.

I, too, am sending you peaceful thoughts.

  7. There are times when standing up for our values or someone else is hard, but you have a depth of strength that will bring you through. And you know it too, I can tell from your words. My heart is with you!

I can't believe that nest is where the squirrel lives - all winter long? Wow. A good example to us! Thank you for sharing in the Photo-Heart Connection.

  10. I hope you weather the storm just like the squirrels seem to. I'm sorry you've got that pull between factions going on. that's always difficult.
Love the POV on this shot and that brilliant blue sky in contrast with both snow and branches. Hang on Cathy. There's always another side.
