Liberate Your Art is a postcard swap hosted by Kat from Kat Eye Studio. Each year the swap has grown. This year there were; 216 artists from 11 countries that showcased their artwork on a postcard. A total of 1290 pieces of art were shared. We mailed our cards to Kat who had the monumental task of redistributing them around the world. Let me stop a moment and say "Thanks, Kat, you are awesome for doing this!"
I am thrilled with the postcards that I received. They were meant just for me!!
I love
- flower photography, there's such beauty in the details of flowers
- birds, I have a bird theme in one of my bedrooms
- art journals, I want to try my hand at one
- macro images, one of my favorite types of photography
The first postcard that arrived in my mailbox was from Marie Johnson, San Juan County, New Mexico. Marie's talents include quilting, painting, mixed media, knitting, photography, and she makes the most gorgeous felted bags. http://www.musingcrowdesigns.com/
For the second year in a row I've received one of Terri Porter's cards. I've know Terry through online photography classes and blogging. I'm thrilled to have another one of her photographs. Terri lives in Arizona and creates the most gorgeous images of flowers like the cactus on the front of her postcard. Her photography is not limited to flowers, she's a wonderful photographer. Terri has a personal blog http://porterimages58.blogspot.com/ and she also collaborates with several other fantastic photographers on a blog filled with beautiful photography and inspiration. http://focusingonlifegrp.blogspot.com/
Valerie-Jael from Kaiserwerth, Germany is the artist behind this beautiful piece of art. Valerie creates beautiful journal pages, tags, altered projects, and is also a very talented photographer. You'll enjoy her blog and seeing her art. http://bastelmania-craftattack.blogspot.com/
This inspiring postcard was created by Jennie who lives in Melbourne, Australia. She is a very talented artist that shares her knowledge through art teaching. Her postcard is a photo of the front cover of her art journal, a mixed media piece. You can see more of Jennie's art, which is full of color and texture, on her blog. http://artyjenniep.wordpress.com/
This postcard is from David Morel, a fine art photographer from Nashville, TN. I visited his blog and discovered that this is a macro image of a vintage wallpaper press. David's photography includes; sports, structures, macro, abstract, nature, and more.
We all received a postcard from Kat who lives in Oregon. Kat is a brilliant photographer whose photos are beautiful and inspiring. She also shares her love for photography through her courses and workshops, which I will say are wonderful!!
Kat has put together an amazing video with a sample of each artist's work. You MUST go see it! I don't tell people what to do very often, but I'm telling you GO SEE IT!
It gave me chills when I looked at this amazing collection of art. I've already watched it three times and I'm going back again! I'm looking forward to Liberate Your Art 2014! If this sounds wonderful to you, join us next year. Kat has a newsletter that keeps you informed of everything that's happening at her studio.
We are participating in a blog hop where we can see many of the postcards and hopefully see where our own cards landed. I know where two of mine went, so I'm off to look for the others and enjoy this fabulous collection of art!
