Why do I love to take pictures of mushrooms? That's a question I've been thinking about since I took this photo. What is it about them that makes me grab my camera? After all they are very common and not beautiful like flowers! What really draws me to them? Is it their shape? Their details? Their color? Is it because they're small and I like macro photography? Yes, to all of the above, but I don't think that's all! I think the child in me loves the magic that mushrooms bring to mind. I see one and my imagination immediately kicks into gear and I wonder if a wood sprite or a fairy or even a gnome lives under the mushroom. Under this mushroom would be a pretty spot to live surrounded by lovely woodland violets.
I've been told I'm a child at heart. And that is a good thing! I don't want to be old and staid! I want the simple things in life to bring me joy. I want to smile and laugh. I want to play, especially with my grandsons. I want to live my life looking for the positive and for a little touch of magic!

Oh, I can see those little fairies and woodland creatures hiding behind that mushroom. I remember story books from my childhood that had illustrations with that kind of image. It brings back some lovely memories.

ReplyDeleteI love this photo and your thoughts behind it, Cathy! I could almost see "someone" peeking around the stem of the mushroom - but when I looked, they ran over behind the violet leaf.

So pretty, I absolutely imagine a fairy living here too, such a sweet, magical image.
ReplyDeleteI love the magic you see in mushrooms. You bring us to your point of view through your wonderful images, and we see the magic in them too. They may not be as flashy as the flowers, calling "photograph me" quite as loudly, so it takes a special eye to find their beauty. We are lucky to have you show it to us! Thanks for sharing your mushroom-love in the Photo-Heart Connection.
ReplyDeleteI only wish I had more of them to photograph....a couple of weeks ago I had some small purple ones and was excited...only I quickly forgot when I picked up the rake the same day before I got my camera and racked them all up. .. they blended in with the dirt! Great photo-heart connection.
ReplyDeleteI want to flutter my wings and play under the mushroom as well beautful shot.

ReplyDeleteWonderful shot. It does look like a little magic fairy world. Nothing wrong with being a "kid at heart" as I believe the same way.
ReplyDeleteIt is a magical shot...I too wondered what might be able to live under the mushroom. Being a child at heart is a great blessing! Having grandchildren to enjoy that with is a double blessing.
