Welcome July

Here we are at the middle of the year!!  JULY!!  We have another birthday this month, Mr. H.'s. We're going celebrate that on the 4th along with Independence Day.
Let's see, its baked bean month, blueberry month, hot dog month, national ice cream month and picnic month.  Those all sound pretty good to me.  As I look at the special days it always amazes me how many revolve around food.  Here's a few special days. I probably should tell you where I find these dates...family crafts web site...they pick the fun days to celebrate!!
July 4 -Tom Sawyer fence painting day
6th - fried chicken day
7th - macaroni
9th - sugar cookie day
10th - teddy bear's picnic day
13th - national french fries day
19th - stick your tongue out day
20th - ice cream soda day
21st - junk food day
23rd - mosquito day
25th - threading the needle day
30th - national cheesecake day

I don't think I'll be celebrated stick out your tongue day or  mosquito day!!  Those can just pass me by.

On to the decorations for July.

My front door quilt is the first one of the door quilts I made. It is a variation of the Log Cabin. It's faded some over the years it has hung on the front door. But, the fading appeals to me. Makes it look more vintage.

The four-letter word pillow is "flag". There's tiny stars, a bird and heart buttons.

My garden flag show off the stars and stripes.

A couple of Beanie Babies.

And a collection of Boyds Bear figurines. This is just a few of them. I have quite a few more.

As I'm sitting here writing this I hear fireworks. Tomorrow is the 4th of July, the 235th birthday of our nation. To celebrate,  I'll bring you a little red, white, and blue.

  1. Found you through BPC - I love your flag quilt. It's never occurred to me that quilts go so nicely on doors! Hope you have a wonderful 4th with your family.

  2. What are you going to do on the 10th for teddy bear's picnic day? I think you and daddy should have a picnic and sing the song! :)
