Picture Spring

I participated in a Big Picture Class called Picture Spring. As a result of each days prompt I learned to see spring, really see spring every time I walked outside. I began to carry my camera in hopes of seeing something new. A bud on a branch which was bare the day before. The first peak of the blades of daffodils or hostas. Everyday was a new day, a beautiful day, where I looked to see what changed overnight. I seemed to smell spring more this year, the lilacs and the mock orange bushes at my Moms, the honeysuckle along the fence row. I was more mindful of spring, more observant and I want to share this beautiful time with you. Each day in Picture Spring, we received a prompt to inspire us to take a photo. I'll share those with you and share my photos. I hope you enjoy them.

Day 1
We were to capture an image that symbolizes the beginning of something. It's the beginning of spring and the beginning of weed season. Yes, this is a weed! It's called Henbit. It looks like it's heralding the beginning of lawn mowing season!

Mighty oaks from little acorns grow. I saw this as Mr. H and I were raking. I thought it fit the prompt so well. The acorn has broken open and the oak has begun to grow. It fascinated me that something so tiny and delicate looking could one day be an oak tree!

Day 2
We were to capture a vignette of our morning ritual. Breakfast seems like a good place to start the day. I have a confession to make. The day we received this prompt was my shopping day at Walmart. While I was there I picked up this plate and mug just for this prompt! How silly is that! But, I really don't have any exciting dishes. I usually eat my breakfast on a napkin. How boring! So I came home, made the cinnamon toast and hot chocolate, pretended it was morning again, and began to take pictures. So many in fact, that by the time I finished, the food was not fit to eat!!  Anyway, now I can treat myself occasionally to breakfast on a beautiful plate!

Day 3
On this day we were to grab our camera from where it lay, take 30 steps and take a picture of what we found. I wound up at my Japonica (also known  as a Quince) bush and found this bee among the blossoms. I think he became very annoyed with me, I kept snapping his picture and he was trying to get that good nector!

Day 4
I was so glad the sun was shining this day, because we were to look up and take a picture of the sky. I went out several times and took pictures. These were my two favorites! I love taking cloud pictures. I have hundreds of pictures of clouds!

Day 5
The last prompt was to look up, now we were to set our cameras on the ground or at least ground level and see what the world looked like from that view. I was watching Aaron this day and found these mushroom in their backyard. It is one of my all time favorite shots. I just love the way the light makes it look so golden. Can you believe a mushroom can be so pretty? It can, if we only stop for a minute, get down and really look at them. I'm glad Aaron doesn't seem to mind if his gramma is on the ground taking pictures. Seems like my knees are forever getting dirty now!

This is another one I took the next day, I'm ground level with the creek behind our house. I was fascinated by the bubbles caused by a small waterfall. I loved the sparkle on the bubbles and the way it reflected in the water.

I'll be posting some more soon.
Hope you enjoyed these!

  1. Ok, all the pictures are so great. I loved the weed. I am not sure what it is called but it like hairs of fuzzy stuff showing are each petal.

I am printing out your blog, with the hope that I can do the prompts also. Thanks for sharing them we us.
