Delightful Finds!

The wind is blowing. It seems it's always blowing lately. It could be that I'm more aware of the wind blowing because moving objects are hard to photograph. I've been sticking with things that don't move.

I ran out this morning to take a picture of fungi for a flickr group I belong to. I was hoping to find some with frost on them. That didn't really happen, the sun was too far up. Even though the sun was up, it was pretty chilly; 39 degrees, but feels like 31. I'm bundled, I'm warm, I'm happy.

I did find a little frost...

and of all things a dandelion.
Seriously, little dandelion, it's only January!

I wasn't going far, just out in the yard, but the next thing I knew I was deep into the woods. I just couldn't stop walking. I wanted to see what special treasures I could find today. These woods are so familiar to me, I walk there constantly, but each time is a new experience. They're not the same and I'm not the same.

Some days, like today, I find seedpods with amazing textures and shapes.

I also see reflections and abstracts.

I look up and see the sky above me...

and look down and find smallest of things.

Each and every day there's more treasures to be found!
Have you found anything that delighted you today?

  6. I'm delighted by your photos, Cathy. It's windy here, too - I got a bit of windburn on my face skiing today.

  10. Wow, you found so many things! Love the way you put that seedpod collection together and that 2nd image of the mushrooms from above. This is a place I really struggle to be inspired. When nature is just nature with little in varied tones....I just don't see much or much that draws me. I realized awhile ago it is the combination of man made and nature contrasting on one another that makes me snap out of the doldrums. Had there been a sign post, overlook, or fence then I would have found inspiration. I think that frosty one might have got me. I need to go to school on what you find. Well spotted one and all.

  13. I'm glad you kept going :) I absolutely LOVE your seed pod collage - such wonderful textures - they look like tiny little broom parts. And your abstracts - since we don't know what we are looking at and can't pull out our labels for the items, we can instead just appreciate the color and textures and lines. You always bring a sense of wonder and joy to your walks in the woods.

  15. The best part of this post as far as I am concerned was your statement "they're not the same and I'm not the same." You are a smart woman for recognizing that you are changed by every experience. It's a pleasure seeing the world through your camera lens...
