Sunday Sundries ~ Edition 1

For a while I've been wanting to post a little something on Sunday, but couldn't come up with just the right thing. Somewhere in all this thinking I realized that although I've been working on a 365 for several months now, I don't share many of those pictures here. I put them on my flickr photostream in a couple of groups I belong to. For those of you who are not photographers, a 365 is taking a picture every day for a year. Anyway, I'm thinking that's what I'll do here, share my photos of the week before. I'll try it for a while and see if it fits. I thought of several names to call this Sunday post:  Sunday Best,  Sunday Set,  Sunday Gathering,  Sunday CafĂ©,  Sunday Respite,  Sunday Treasures. It's not easy coming up with a post title, but Sunday Sundries just struck a chord with me. I've always liked the word "sundry." Don't ask me why, I couldn't explain it. I still remember the first time I heard the expression "various and sundry things." It just sounds cool!

Looking at the meaning of these two words explains my choice.
Sunday:  the day of the week before Monday and following Saturday, observed by Christians as a day of rest and religious worship
Sundries: miscellaneous small articles, details, or items

This pretty much says what these posts will be. Small things or moments that lead me to count my blessings.

This weeks photos are all hearts. In fact, they'll be hearts all month. You know, you just can't get enough hearts in February.

"From the fullness of his grace
we have all received
one blessing after another."
John 1:16

  1. Sundry-it is a great word and pairs well with Sunday. Brilliant. I like seeing your week's collection-and now I'm thinking I should do that. I'm just having trouble keeping up with Flickr though. My fave here is the stamp shot. I remember collecting stamps (in a not very serious way) as a kiddo. Keep on with the hearts. I don't know how you find so many but-good for you. Perhaps I should draw a heart shape in the snow. Have a happy Sunday.

  12. Yes, hearts certainly are the flavour of the month. Who can resist their shape? I especially like your picture of the two hearts on branches. Only four days to Valentine's now.

  15. Sunday Sundries is a perfect title, and sharing your 365 pics here is a great idea, too. I've been thinking of doing the same. I like the way you put these together as a collage. You already know how much I've been loving all of your heart images this month!

One of my favorite book series, by a Maine writer named Van Reid, features a character called Sundry Moss. (He has a brother named Various!) The first book is called Cordelia Underwood. Van is a wonderful writer and I think you'd love his books.
