Milk & Brownies

For some reason I don't make brownies very well.
They're either too dry
or not done!
I've tried different pans and watched them closely,
but they hardly ever turn out well.

That doesn't mean that I'll stop making them!
They still taste good; dry or chewy.
I tried this new flavor by Duncan Hines
Red Velvet with a Cream Cheese drizzle.
To be honest,
we thought they tasted like regular brownies,
but they do look a little red!

The prompt this week for Be Still 52 was milk and cookies.
I'd rather have milk and brownies.

  1. Brownies I don't do well either, I don't know what it is about them never taste as good as other peoples. But your photography looks great of these. So one out of two is great. :)

  2. I'm not crazy about brownies (I'd rather have actual chocolate cake) but these do look good, and as a bonus, they're very photogenic. Good job on the assignment!

  3. I love brownies {the secret is in not baking too long; I test before the specified time.}: I love cookies; I love cakes. And I love your picture. I thought they were Hostess cupcakes at first! But that combination of red velvet and cream cheese drizzle does sound wonderful!

  4. Brownies can be quite tricky. I find they are best when they're a little underdone. They get more consistent as they cool! I like your shot of them with the cream cheese drizzle!

  5. We don't have brownies often, but I know what you are saying about the delicate balance to getting them right. I have had more than my share of too gooey or too dry both of mine and of others.

  6. These look very yummy as do your photos! I buy those 2-bite brownies and that's about the extent of my brownie baking :)

  7. Oh, I absolutely ADORE brownies. That chewy chocolate experience, followed by a cold glass of milk. Of course, these days, having given up sugar, brownies aren't in my future - but I can look at your image and taste them :)

  9. Yum! My favorite Brownie recipe is on the back of a can of Ghirardelli Chocolate. They are so good.

  10. Thanks to Ida above for the recipe - I'll check this out for sure! And Cathy, I love your photo today! Not only does this picture make me really hungry for brownies, but the fact that your prompt for "cookies and milk" came out as "milk and brownies," made me laugh out loud. I guess there is something about growing older that makes us speak up for what we like and unafraid to go our own way. I'm loving this! I'm not a very good baker either, but these look delicious!

  11. I'm definitely of the moist-and-chewy persuasion when it comes to brownies. You've made me wonder whether I have brownie makings in my pantry. Something for the weekend maybe...
