Be Still 52 and 30 Days of Gratitude - Day 5

Grateful for the fruits of the season.

"Live in each season as it passes;
breathe the air, drink the drink,
taste the fruit,
and resign yourself to the influence of the earth
~Henry David Thoreau."

The assignment for Be Still 52 this week was to include a pear and a bowl. Simple things, yes, but doing this is not simple for me. I bought three pears and collected a few bowls. After several attempts of composing a nice image, I frustratingly plopped the pear I was working with in the clear bowl. Voila, that was the combination for me. Simple items, simple composition.

  1. I couldn't agree more. Simple is best! Your image is gorgeous - I love the rich jewel tones.

  2. I like the lighting on the pear and the way it seems to glow against the background. It looks shiny and lush. Well done.

  3. Isn't that the truth! I must have taken 150 pictures of different pears in different bowls in different places! LOL! You ended up with a beauty of a photo though!

  4. I applaud you for doing the Be Still exercise! I can't remember the last one I did, I really need to go back and at least read the emails. You did a beautiful job! Don't feel badly, I struggle with still life, too.

  5. I know that frustration and this turned out great. I am with Dotti, I haven't done a Be Still exercise in forever, I need to read the weekly exercises as well. Oh well. The snow is forecasted for next week, I need to be outside every nice day there is. Plenty of time for inside work this winter.
