Be Still 52 - Week 35

Breakfast, the first meal of the day. A meal I'm not very thrilled about, that is unless there's a doughnut involved!! Then, I think it's the best meal of the day, especially when the doughnut is heart-shaped, strawberry flavored, and covered with sprinkles.

So now you know my "guilty pleasure!"  A pleasure I try very had not to partake of on a regular basis. A doughnut for breakfast only happens if it's a special day OR I need something for a Be Still 52 exercise. This week's exercise is breakfast. It also fits perfectly with a flickr group I belong to, Prompt Addicts. This week's prompt is heart-shaped. Definitely those two things combined are a great reason to have a doughnut for breakfast!!

A little trivia about doughnuts. . .
"According to anthropologist Paul R. Mullins, the first cookbook mentioning doughnuts was an 1803 English volume which included doughnuts in an appendix of American recipes." (thank you wikipedia for the information between the quote marks!)

My apologies if you haven't had breakfast and now you're craving a doughnut!!

Have a sweet day!

  1. What a lovely dish to present your heart-shaped doughnut on! Now a photography prompt is a perfect excuse for you to seek out your favourite breakfast treat!

  2. Yumm! I swore off doughnuts many years ago - actually a lifetime ago. I'm quite amazed that I stuck with it - because they are so GOOD! I will drool over your pretty picture!

  3. I can't believe all the breakfast non-eaters. I have always eaten breakfast, but then when you get up at 5 a.m. by 8 a.m. you are starving. I don't have a strong like for donuts having worked in a bakery in high school. The smell gets into you, not in a good way.

  4. Well, I did have breakfast, and now I'm craving a doughnut anyway! What a delicious post...perfect for a Be Still breakfast and a Valentine's theme, too. Well done!

  5. A prompt two-fer. Good for you! It's almost too pretty to eat. I'll be honest, I like breakfast and it doesn't bother me to eat the same thing every day. If it ain't broke, why try to fix it?

  6. Well if you don't like breakfast then this is the way to go, but I do and I can't have these as much as I would like to. I am also with Dottie, could eat the same thing every morning but I try and not do that. Guess for you though it is the breakfast of Champions.

  8. Isn't it great that we can justify guilty pleasures by using them for our prompts? Well done, Cathy!

  9. Doughnuts are one of those things that I can easily resist for some reason. But I love your Valentine heart theme - very "sweet"! Hope you enjoyed your heart breakfast.

  10. I worked my way through HS and college at my dad's bakery. Up at 4AM everyday to have the donuts ready at 6.
I have zero cravings for donuts.
